It's a bit ridiculous, to be perfectly honest. It's barely sparrow's fart and I've been awake for hours, making up lists of things to do when it's all done already! This time tomorrow I'll be on a plane, winging my way somewhere fun for the first time in five long years. I must be excited, but it'd be nice to have slept a little longer.
Wrangling the family into some kind of obedience and submission has been wrought with challenge, none more so than the daughter. She only had three days in town last week when she could have packed up from boarding school. But no. There was a party to go to. So Emily partied, I travelled over an hour to pick her up from the bus exchange, we drove all the way home...and then she announced she's still got stuff at school. WTF?!?! We'll go to school on the way to the airport. Her shit can stay in the back of the car for the next two months.
I'll worry about the eighteen-year old later. A school leaver, Will has opted for New Year in Queenstown with his mates, instead of Bangkok with his parents, and then he's joining us. Everything's planned though. He just has to get onboard a flight out of Queenstown on 1st January. How hard can it be?
Somehow along the way, I've herded the family into the doctor for bulk typhoid jabs, cleaned the flat for AirBnB, submitted all my current writing jobs, pitched a whole lot more, sent invoices, completed a design job, cooked freezer meals for Will, been to Robbie Williams, celebrated a friend's engagement...but now we're off. Two months of bliss exploring Thailand, Laos and the Philippines.
Whoop whoop bring it on!

phew, that all sounds exhausting! Hopefully by now you've managed to catch up on some well deserved sleep!! enjoy...Alyson x
How fabulous! Have an amazing time - I can't wait to read about your adventures. x
